Member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mahmoud Khoshnaw, confirmed today, Thursday, that his party will not allow the Kurdistan Democratic Party to monopolize positions as in previous years.
Al-Shammari said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan was previously a participant in the government, but now, after the last elections, it will be a basic partner and not a participant,” noting that “most of the positions of the presidency of the region and the ministries have been monopolized by the Kurdistan Democratic Party since 2005.”
He added that “in the coming few days, the Yekti will enter into real discussions with all political parties in general and with the Kurdistan Democratic Party in particular to establish a real partnership,” explaining that “this demand is not only in the interest of the union, but also in the interest of institutional building and the interest of the region in general.”
The Kurdistan Region had previously held the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament’s legislative elections, which resulted in the victory of the two main traditional parties, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
