Parliamentary bloc reveals political blocs’ plan to decide on Parliament Speaker

Shafaq News/ The parliamentary initiative bloc revealed, on Tuesday, that there are intensive meetings of political blocs in order to decide on choosing an alternative to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, stressing that there are three axes that will be witnessed in the session next Thursday to decide the position.
MP for the parliamentary initiative bloc, Adnan Al-Jahishi, told Shafaq News Agency, “The political blocs will hold intensive meetings during the next 48 hours, to resolve the issue of electing the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the session next Thursday.”
Al-Jahishi added, “The parliament session on Thursday will witness three axes, the first of which includes going to the vote and whoever gets the highest votes will get the presidency of the House of Representatives.”
He explained that “the second axis is that the candidates announce their withdrawal in the same session, and after that a consensus figure is nominated for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.”
Al-Jahishi stressed that “the last axis is amending the internal regulations of the House of Representatives, and this axis is excluded and cannot be pursued.”
Last Wednesday, October 23, six Sunni forces, led by the head of the Progress Party, Mohammed al-Halbousi, identified two paths to decide on the election of a new speaker of parliament, after a stalemate that lasted for 11 months.
