MP Yasser Al-Hussaini considered, today, Sunday, the implementation of the Aqaba pipeline project despite the popular rejection of it, a stigma on the Iraqi economy.
Al-Hussaini said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “Our repeated refusal to implement this project stems from our awareness of the economic risks and the risks of financial waste,” noting that “if the Aqaba project is implemented, despite the popular rejection, it will be considered a stigma on the Iraqi economy.”
He called on “the government not to submit to external dictates whose aim is to destroy the Iraqi economy,” explaining that “proceeding with this project, which raises many question marks, is not possible and we will not allow it to be implemented.”
A responsible source confirmed earlier that the Iraqi government has allowed a number of companies to enter Iraq in order to implement the Aqaba pipeline project in the coming days.
