The leader in the coordination framework, Turki Al-Atbi, confirmed, on Friday, that Iraq is currently chasing its smuggled money in 30 countries.
Al-Atbi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “tracing the money smuggled from Iraq and recovering it is one of the priorities of the Sudanese government and an effective part of the war on corruption, which devoured large parts of the country’s money in the past years.”
He added, “Iraq has actually started opening up to more than 30 countries through specialized committees in order to pursue smuggled money and find out its fate in banks and other sectors, stressing that there is a varying interaction by countries regarding this activity.”
He pointed out that “Iraq has many clues about the smuggled money, but the process of recovering it involves some difficulties and complications, which we hope will achieve its goals in the near future.”
And large sums of money were smuggled at intervals from Iraq to several countries by many corrupt people in the past years.
