The Israeli newspaper Maariv reported on Wednesday that the results of the midterm elections held in the United States the previous day are causing deep concern in Israel, while other media outlets warned of a more critical Congress and increased scrutiny of US support for Israel.
The report, translated by Al-Maalomah News Agency, stated that “Israeli media described the Republican Party’s loss of its majority in the US Congress as a painful blow to US President Donald Trump and Israel, given the rise of Democratic representatives who criticize Israeli policies and US military aid to the country.”
Israeli media described the outcome as a “blue tsunami,” referring to the significant gains made by the Democratic Party, symbolized by the color blue, and warned of potential repercussions for US-Israeli relations during the remaining two years of Trump’s term.
These assessments came after the Democratic Party’s victory in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the midterm elections held on Tuesday, while vote counting continued in some states to determine the final results.
