Ali al-Badiri, a deputy for the al-Hikma Movement led by Ammar al-Hakim, said, “The issue of thwarting the task of the prime ministers-designate (Muhammad Allawi, Adnan al-Zarfi, Mustafa al-Kazemi), has a prior and agreed preparation between some political parties, and the goal of these parties is to keep the government.” The current woman, who resigned, has positions and privileges that she does not want to lose. ”
Al-Badiri said that “these parties are working to impose pressures and conditions with high ceilings and create problems, until they force the prime ministers assigned to make an apology, as happened with Allawi and Al-Zarfi, and they are now working this matter with Al-Kazemi.”
But he said, “Al-Kazemi differs from his predecessors, because of his great political experience.”
In the event that Al-Kazemi obtains confidence from the parliament, the new government will succeed the government of Abdul-Mahdi, who resigned in early December 2019 under pressure from popular protests calling for the departure and accountability of the political class accused of corruption and waste of state funds.
Iraqi political forces have agreed that the post-Mahdi government’s mission is to call for early elections in the country.
For the government to obtain the confidence of Parliament (319 seats), an absolute majority vote (50 percent + 1) is required for the number of members present (not the total number) to grant confidence.
