Diyala Council: Hamrin gas field capable of bringing about a qualitative leap in Iraq’s production

The head of the Salah al-Din Provincial Council, Adel al-Sumaidaie, confirmed on Sunday that the gas reserves in the Hamrin field are very large and could create a qualitative leap in the quantities of gas produced in Iraq.
Al-Sumaidaie explained to Al-Maalouma that “the Hamrin field contains very large reserves of oil and gas, and therefore, after its transfer to one of the specialized international companies, it could create a qualitative leap in production quantities and increase Iraq’s ability to secure large quantities of extracted natural gas, especially since the reserves are promising.”
He pointed out that “Salah al-Din contains many important and large fields, and therefore the arrival of international companies to work in them sends important messages, most notably the state of security stability, in addition to the role of these fields in providing job opportunities for thousands of young people, not to mention their support for the national economy.”
Al-Sumaidaie indicated “the necessity of having a joint plan between the local government and the central government to enhance the ability to accelerate the pace of investment and extraction, and thus establish industries capable of supporting the national economy.”
