Shabibi made that decision 10 years ago to have Iraq have the dinar. Which obviously, they want being the richest country in the world to have the great buying power the dinar should have. If they choose to switch now, it would be 10 years down the drain lowering inflation, etc. Iraq will not become a dollar country. This dollarization is short lived, in fact, Shabibi agreed to not dollarize more than 30%. We know due the pending float, they are much higher than that at this time. Read more…

2-10-2013 Newshound Guru Kaperoni We all know that the new plan now is a free float. But what is exciting is the actions taken by the CBI to confirm this. Just as…ending the currency auctions supported a “staging rate” of 1 to $1 or about, selling hard currency all over Iraq supports the float. These are clearly two different monetary policies. We are seeing the CBI aggressively sell dollars raising capital at banks and exchange centers in Iraq as the statement said…Iraq is going on the dollar now for a period of time. That period will more than likely be while the dinar free floats to a rate 1 to $1 or higher in the world marketplace. Then, once this is complete, Iraq will switch to a managed float, or pegged basket which is more stable and they can introduce the new smaller dinar notes, etc. And begin to dedollarize. Today the rate is roughly .00086 ($860 per million). That’s about a 25% increase in the last few years, right? So if you bought in that period, you are ALREADY WINNING. FACT TWO: The DJIA (Dow Jones Industrial Average) in 2006 was at 10806, today it is around 13880. Those numbers look pretty similar to the Iraqi Dinar’s progress around the same time frame, don’t they? 2-1-2013 Intel Guru BOBGETZ6 As I understand it, the CBI site will be live, not static when the rv occurs internationally. The rv will be a managed float of 2% over a 90 day period. No movement up or down beyond that. That refers to the CBI site rate. Also, as I found out yesterday, the dealers WILL NOT get advance notice…Trying to gather information from a dry and quiet well. Everything supposedly is done and could happen anytime, but not continually hearing voices. So we wait, as usual.

Yes, hard currency is once again being drained out of Iraq but it should not have a noticeable long term effect on the currency value. It is hard to pass and it is expensive. I think this is intentional. But to us, IMHO, it is more of an aggravation than any real threat to the value of the currency and most likely will stop with the election of a PM who is not sympathetic or beholden to Iran. There are different opinions on both sides as to whether Maliki will be staying or going and Talabani is still alive and well and in Germany and is getting treatment for his back as for as I know. Turki is the acting figure head for the CBI. Basically, Shabibi is still calling the shots, he is still very much a part of things. The banks are on alert, as we are.
