Iranian parliamentarian Hossein Emami Rad declared that the distance separating us from producing nuclear weapons is much shorter than you imagine, stressing that the only thing preventing this is the fatwa of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
“The distance separating us from producing nuclear weapons is much shorter than you think. We are closer to producing nuclear weapons, and the only thing stopping us is our leader’s fatwa, which we must follow,” Rad said during an open session of parliament, Mehr News Agency reported.
The Iranian MP’s statement on nuclear weapons was the fourth such incident in the past week. Fellow MP Mohammad Reza Sabaghian-Bafeghi called yesterday for the “development of nuclear weapons,” describing it as “a response to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”
Two days ago, Iranian parliamentarian Mohammad Qasem Osmani said, “Avoiding military conflict is a condition of reason and logic,” adding, “But the greed of global arrogance has reached such a level that we have no choice but to take this path unless we possess the tools to confront its oppression and greed. The only path is to move quickly and relentlessly toward developing nuclear weapons as a deterrent.”
On March 31, Ahmad Naderi, a member of the Iranian parliament’s presidium, wrote on his Twitter page that “many representatives of the country’s elite and those interested in the country are calling for testing and manufacturing a nuclear bomb.”
