Al-Haidari told Al-Maalomah - Restoring the Yanbu pipeline from Saudi Arabia is a national priorityThe Information Agency/Baghdad –
Member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas, and Natural Resources Committee, Alaa al-Haidari, called on the Iraqi government on Tuesday to take urgent diplomatic and legal action to reopen the file on the Iraqi pipeline extending through Saudi territory to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea (the Miracle Pipeline). He stressed that this project represents sovereign assets and purely Iraqi funds that cannot be relinquished or left neglected.
Al-Haidari told the Information Agency, “National duty compels the Iraqi negotiator to take serious action and demand that the Saudi side return this strategic pipeline, especially since all its facilities and assets were built with previous Iraqi funds and investments.” He explained that “recovering and rehabilitating the pipeline will enhance Iraq’s export capabilities and provide a safe and direct outlet for Iraqi oil to global markets via the Red Sea.”
Al-Haidari added that “negotiating to recover our vital assets and activate the Yanbu pipeline represents a far more viable, less costly, and more secure strategic option than engaging in other projects that generate widespread controversy, such as the Basra-Aqaba pipeline.” He pointed out that “the economic reality necessitates preserving Iraq’s assets and investing them properly to facilitate export flexibility and diversify marketing outlets in a way that serves the supreme national interest.”
