Traders remittances after the exchange rate change... Al-Daini clarifies the banks position on financial differencesInformation/Baghdad…
MP Nahida al-Daini explained on Tuesday the mechanism for handling merchants’ remittances after the dollar exchange rate adjustment, and the measures taken to guarantee their rights and prevent them from incurring financial differences resulting from the rate change.
Al-Daini told Al-Maalouma that “the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee, after an extensive meeting held on October 8, 2026, chaired by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, and attended by committee members and a group of merchants, followed up on the issue of merchants’ dues with banks prior to the exchange rate adjustment, in coordination with the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, and through official correspondence on this matter.”
She added that “these efforts resulted in resolving the issue and obligating banks to execute remittances accepted before October 7, 2026, at the previous rate of 1320 dinars per dollar, and not to refuse to execute them or demand that customers pay any financial differences resulting from the exchange rate adjustment.”
She added that “transfers accepted through the platform starting October 7, 2026, will be executed according to the new exchange rate of 1520 dinars per dollar,” stressing that “the committee will continue its field monitoring and oversight to ensure all banks comply with these instructions and prevent any delays in their implementation.”
