The Fatah Alliance on Wednesday criticized the involvement of American experts in negotiations with Washington regarding the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq, considering it an incorrect step.
“The US military presence in Iraq is an occupation, and Washington has no sincere intention of withdrawing,” coalition leader Ali Aziz told Al-Maalouma News Agency. He noted that “the current government lacks sufficient experience, and bringing in American experts of its nationality to negotiate the withdrawal of US forces is a grave mistake.”
He added that “negotiators must come from within Iraq to ensure real results,” explaining that “the United States has been benefiting from Iraqi oil for free for years, and Iraq has paid it many times the costs demanded by President Donald Trump in exchange for withdrawal, yet its forces have remained there for more than 20 years.”
He stressed that “relying on the Iraqi resistance is wrong, as it possesses clear capabilities and has previously proven its abilities,” warning that “the continued American military presence will keep Iraq in a state of instability and expose it to great risks.”
