Al-Bayati: The arrival of the budget in November is almost certain

Information/Baghdad…
MP Mohammed al-Bayati confirmed on Saturday that resorting to borrowing to support the 2027 budget is very likely, while indicating that the budget’s arrival this November is almost certain, given the government’s indications.
Al-Bayati explained to Al-Maalouma that “most of the items in the 2027 budget are still unclear because they haven’t been finalized yet within the government. Therefore, we are waiting for the Cabinet to vote on it before it reaches Parliament, and then for the Parliamentary Finance Committee to discuss it according to established procedures.”
He pointed out that “the government resorting to borrowing to support the budget is very likely, especially given the large financial deficit, particularly in light of the evolving situation in the region and Baghdad’s inability to export its usual quantities of crude oil, which constitutes about 90% of the country’s revenues.”
Al-Bayati stated that “all the messages received from the government confirm that the budget will reach Parliament during November, and therefore we are waiting for the budget items because they will include many issues that require extensive discussion.”
He pointed out that “what concerns us is identifying the financial deficit gap and ensuring the rights of all segments of society, especially regarding contracts, job security, and providing more job opportunities for university graduates.”
