US State Department reveals new details about Rubio-Sudani callShafaq News/ The US State Department announced, on Wednesday, new details regarding the phone call made by Secretary Marco Rubio with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

“Rubio discussed with Al-Sudani a number of issues, including Iranian influence in the region, the need for Iraqi energy independence, and US commercial investments,” State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said in a statement.

She added that the two sides agreed “on the necessity for Iraq to become independent in the field of energy, to resume the operation of the Iraqi-Turkish pipeline quickly, and to adhere to the terms of the contracts of American companies operating in Iraq to attract additional investments.”

Al-Sudani’s media office stated in a statement, on Tuesday evening, that the latter received a phone call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which they discussed the overall bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States, and ways to strengthen and develop them.

The statement issued by the media office of the Iraqi Prime Minister did not mention the details provided by the US State Department in its statement about the phone call between Rubio and Al-Sudani.
