Al-Sudani discusses lifting the ban on the “Green Bird” with the International Air Transport Association

Shafaq News/ Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani discussed , on Sunday, the procedures for lifting the European ban on Iraqi aviation, with a delegation from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Al-Sudani’s media office said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, “The Prime Minister received the President of the International Air Transport Association, Kamel Al-Awadhi, and during the meeting, Al-Sudani reviewed Iraq’s efforts and procedures regarding ending the European ban on Iraqi Airways, and the implementation rates of the plan prepared by the committee tasked with achieving the requirements for lifting the ban.”
He added, ” The meeting also witnessed a discussion of Iraq’s efforts in the field of developing the work of the airline company and applying automation in all aspects of its work, as well as in the field of raising the company’s capabilities and developing the skills of its cadres, and improving the level of services provided to passengers and transporting goods.”
Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, “giving this file the utmost importance, and continuously following up on the work of the committee tasked with lifting the ban, and providing all necessary facilities in order to complete its work and fulfill all the requirements of this matter, and working in parallel to develop the airline company’s facilities and adhere to international standards, and all new developments in the field of air transport.”
For his part, Al-Awadhi pointed out the importance of “completing the closing of this file, especially since the percentage of achievement achieved in the corrective plan has advanced to reach 56%, which means that the project’s timeline is moving in the right direction.”
