Shafaq News/ The House of Representatives submitted an official letter to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, to refer officials, governors, and heads of agencies who have exceeded the legal age to retirement .
According to a document obtained by Shafaq News Agency, the council indicates the existence of a legal violation affecting the legal structure through the continuation of some occupants of independent bodies and a number of governors in their jobs and positions despite reaching the legal age for retirement .
According to the same documents, what resulted from this was a serious breach in assuming these positions, and a flagrant violation of the principle of equality and equal opportunities stipulated in Articles (14) and (16) of the Constitution, in addition to violating the text of Article (10 first) of the Unified Retirement Law No. (1) of 2014 (amended), which required that every employee or person charged with public service be referred to retirement upon reaching 60 years of age .
Member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Raed Al-Maliki, confirmed last Wednesday that the amendment to the retirement law proposed in Parliament is limited to the retirement age of 63 years, while he pointed out that there are other amendments that will be made during the second reading .
