Member of the Fatah Alliance, Ali Al-Fatlawi, confirmed today, Monday, that the political forces have not backed down from the demand to expel American forces from Iraq, stressing that this demand is an essential part of the government program.
Al-Fatlawi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The political forces are still adhering to the demand to remove American forces from Iraq,” noting that “this demand is an essential part of the government program.”
He explained that “talk about the decline in popular and political demands in this regard is incorrect,” stressing that “the government and political forces are committed to implementing this demand.”
He pointed out that “the government has set timetables for implementing the decision to withdraw American forces after rounds of negotiations with the American side,” stressing that “all efforts are focused on following up on the implementation of these timetables.”
He said, “Iraq does not need these forces that affect security stability, and we are determined to guarantee the country’s sovereignty and security.”
Recently, some political forces have called for extending the stay of US forces in Iraq, under the pretext of recent developments in the region after the fall of the Assad regime in Syria.
