A representative reveals 4 names of candidates for the Presidency of Parliament

The representative of the coordinating framework, Muhammad Al-Sayhoud, confirmed on Monday that deciding the position of Speaker of Parliament requires a constituent consensus on the four names nominated for the Presidency of the Council.
Al-Sayhoud told Al-Maalouma, “The presidency of Parliament will be decided during the upcoming sessions after the end of the legislative term recess at the end of this month, as the new Speaker of the House of Representatives will be chosen during the next year.”
He added, “The House of Representatives has placed among its priorities the decision on the presidency of Parliament with the start of the new legislative term,” explaining that “there are 4 figures proposed for the presidency of the Council, but they did not obtain any Kurdish, Sunni, or Shiite consensus.”
He stated that “the Sunni component put forward the names of (Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, Salem Al-Issawi, Shalan Al-Karim, and Abdul Karim Abtan), as resolving the issue and choosing one of the personalities will not take place in one session of the House of Representatives, but rather it needs more than one session to decide the vote on the personalities who obtain the majority of votes.”
