The leader of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, stated on Sunday that there is a defect in the work of the Presidency of Parliament and the system of the current session in general, while he stressed that parliamentarians have the ability to change and determine the course of action instead of inaction.
Al-Hayani said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “There is continuous targeting by some representatives of the leaders of the political blocs without calling for the legislation of laws,” noting that “the weakness of the management of the Presidency of Parliament has negatively affected parliamentary work during the current legislative session.”
He continued, “The failure to approve important laws is due to the weakness of the Presidency of Parliament in setting dates for holding sessions.”
He added: “The preoccupation of the majority of representatives with concluding contracts and projects will lead to failure to legislate laws and failure to adhere to the entire Parliament’s work schedule,” adding that “there is an imbalance in the work of the Presidency of Parliament and the system of the current session in general.”
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, continues to exploit the parliamentary position for electoral propaganda and purely partisan interests, leaving behind him many laws and files that need legislation, especially with most of them reaching the final reading.
