Washington reveals the departure of its non-essential employees from IraqThe United States ordered the evacuation of non-essential personnel from its embassy in Baghdad and its consulate in Erbil, in a statement issued Sunday by the US State Department but dated Friday.

The statement, coinciding with the escalation of tension in the region, stated that the evacuation order was “due to the increasing security threats affecting US crews and interests.”

The order includes “employee family members and non-essential employees” at the US diplomatic mission in Iraq.

The statement also called on Americans not to go to Iraq “because of terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflicts, uprisings, and the limited ability of the mission in Iraq to provide assistance to American citizens.”

The Foreign Ministry’s statement constituted an update on the advice and warnings directed to travelers.

Saturday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq targeted the American “Ain al-Assad” base in western Iraq with a drone.

The attack comes as the Islamic resistance threatens the interests of the United States in Iraq against the backdrop of Washington’s support for Israel in the war with Hamas, in a confrontation that has so far resulted in thousands of Palestinian martyrs.
