Shafaq News/ On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani directed that the World Bank be involved in auditing the designs of the development road project. This came during his chairmanship of the third meeting of the Supreme Committee for Implementing the Development Road Project, according to a statement received by Shafaq News Agency.
During the meeting, they “discussed the extent of the impact of international road projects, to be implemented in the region, on the development road project, and discussed the project’s work strategy and the economic model presented by the consulting team to be contracted.”
Al-Sudani directed the Ministries of Transport and the Board of Advisors to “prepare a mechanism for contracting with the World Bank to be a partner in auditing the project designs prepared by the Italian consultant.”
The Prime Minister stressed the necessity of launching the first step of implementation, after setting strategies and clarifying the ideas for the project to the countries contributing to it, stressing the importance of reflecting the impact of the project in various activities in Iraq, from the economic, industrial, service and social aspects.
Al-Sudani stated that “the development road project will provide an integrated transportation network, and will be a global marketing gateway for the products of the industrial cities that will be established on the road, in addition to creating new investment growth poles.”
