According to the judge of the Karkh Investigation Court, Diaa Jaafar, “The investigations conducted by the courts showed the existence of information related to the payment of sums of money to the former oil minister, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar, by an investor.”
Jaafar stated in an interview followed by Al-Maalouma, that “against the background of the investigations regarding the matter, it was found that there is a group of properties registered in the names of the brothers of the accused’s wife, including three properties in Basra, two distinct properties, each of which is 900 square meters, 14 apartments, a property with an area of 10 dunums, and a property with an area of 600 square meters.” In a distinguished area in Baghdad, and many other details resulted from the arrest of the accused’s wife’s brothers.
He continued, “The real estate is registered by the accused, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar, for the names of these people, who are his wife’s brothers,” noting that “legal measures have been taken against them, and investigations are ongoing on the matter.”
He stated, “There are measures taken by the court regarding external details, and as a result, the court issued a summons order against the former oil minister, after I submitted requests to the court during the last period that the accused was outside Iraq and granted him a deadline before the court,” explaining that “no arrest warrant was issued against the minister.” the previous”.
He pointed out that “the investigations conducted by the court are based on documented and correct material evidence and details without relying on the subject of confessions,” explaining that “the investigations are proceeding in the right direction.”
A member of Parliament, Muhammad Saadoun Al-Sudani, suggested that an arrest warrant be issued against former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi soon.
Al-Sudani said in an interview with Al-Maalouma agency, “The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, when he reached the head of the government, was surprised by the extent of widespread corruption in Al-Kazemi’s government, to an unimaginable degree,” stressing that “the head of corruption in the previous government is Mustafa Al-Kazemi.”
He added, “The issue of corruption of the previous government is very large, and we talked about this issue during Al-Kazemi’s presidency, but we did not imagine it in this way,” noting that “the deal of the century may be one of the many deals that took place during the time of that government.”
The member of the House of Representatives explained, “The arrest of the first line in the previous government means that an arrest warrant will be issued even for Al-Kazemi, and this confirms the existence of very large files.”
Al-Sudani suggested, “There are large corruption files that took place during the previous government, and no light has been shed on them until now.”
Most of those around the former Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, received their share of corruption charges after their involvement in embezzlement of funds and other corruption projects to steal public money was proven, as the competent authorities are taking action to arrest all those whose involvement has been proven.
A parliamentary move to bring money and thieves from outside
The Parliamentary Integrity Committee affirms its intention to pass a law to recover smuggled funds from abroad, indicating that the law will support the government’s directions in bringing in corrupt fugitives from abroad.
Committee member Duha Al-Qaseer said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, that “the money recovery law was initially read in Parliament, and it will be read again in the coming days in order to pass it.”
She added, “The law contains many paragraphs that support the government in its moves to bring in the corrupt and recover money smuggled from abroad.”
Al-Qusayr indicated, “The government’s recent moves against corruption files confirm the extent of rampant corruption in the previous government and the extent of the leadership’s involvement in it.”
And the leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Jabbar Al-Mamouri, had confirmed in a statement to Al-Maalouma that the facts had begun to unfold about the extent of corruption in the government of Mustafa Al-Kazemi and the exploitation of some of their influence to enrich public money, expecting the issuance of arrest warrants against Al-Kazemi and the pillars of his rule soon.
