The political observer, Sabah Al-Agaili, confirmed, on Sunday, that the recent steps of the Sudanese Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’a, regarding the energy file provoked the US administration, which in turn provoked the dollar crisis by imposing sanctions on the Iraqi banking sector.

Al-Aqili said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The recent US sanctions against a number of Iraqi banks violate the sovereignty and independence of the Iraqi state, because they are governed by the instructions of the US Federal Reserve and the Central Bank.”

He added, “The sanctions issued by the US Federal Reserve towards a number of Iraqi banks are indirect messages to Al-Sudani because of two steps he took during the recent period.”

He pointed out that “the first step for Al-Sudani is to bypass the issue of money owed to Iran as a result of supplying Iraq with gas through bartering with black oil, while his visit to Syria, despite the existence of US sanctions on Damascus, represented a great disturbance to Washington.”

He pointed out that “these two steps provoked the American side, and therefore it launched a package of sanctions on a number of Iraqi banks as a card of economic pressure on the Sudanese government.”
