A member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Aed Al-Hilali, confirmed today, Sunday, that the approval of the oil and gas law by the House of Representatives will contribute to the resumption of oil exports to Turkey, adding that the Paris International Court will punish all parties that deal with Kurdistan with the file of oil smuggling.
Al-Hilali said in an interview with Al-Maalouma agency, “If the Kurdistan government continues to smuggle a percentage of oil, it will not be able to form anything in the accounts as a result of the sanctions that will fall on those who deal with the region,” noting that “there is a serious effort by the committees formed by the government to negotiate.” With the Turkish side to resume oil exports.
He continued, “Turkey has fallen into the trap of fines because of the lack of respect for international charters and laws in exporting the oil of the Kurdistan region,” pointing out that “the Kurdish parties will not oppose the resumption of oil exports after the decision of the Paris Court to avoid many of the burdens that will fall on them.”
Regarding the relationship of oil export with the approval of the oil and gas law, Al-Hilali clarifies: “Passing the oil and gas law by the House of Representatives will contribute to resuming the region’s oil exports to Turkey by resolving all outstanding internal problems with Kurdistan.”
Stopping oil exports to Turkey contributed to Iraq losing 400,000 barrels of export funds, as a result of; Non-commitment of the Kurdistan Regional Government to stop smuggling to Türkiye for several years.
Member of the House of Representatives, Zahra Al-Bajari, had revealed, in an interview with Al-Maaloumah Agency, that “the Kurdistan region continues to smuggle oil abroad in several alternative ways than it was in previous years, while confirming that wherever the money was found, there were files of corruption in the departments that support the smuggling of oil.”
