On Thursday, the leader in the coordination framework, Turki Al-Atbi, confirmed that six political forces support a comprehensive revision of the strategic agreement with Washington.
Al-Atbi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “the strategic agreement did not achieve anything positive for Baghdad, despite the passage of more than 10 years since its signing,” pointing to “the presence of 6 important political forces in and outside the framework that support a comprehensive revision as soon as possible, especially with regard to in the security file.
He added, “Baghdad’s going to the option of signing strategic partnership agreements with other countries is strongly proposed, especially in light of the changes in the international arena and the existence of broad economic cooperation axes that may constitute important options for Baghdad in order to invest its wealth and exploit its position on the economic map.”
He pointed out that “the strategic agreement with Washington has not achieved any of its provisions regarding the economic file, not to mention the breaches in the security scene and the violation of sovereignty, which requires a comprehensive restoration.”
Iraq and America had concluded a strategic agreement that included many provisions in security, economic and financial coordination, but it did not lead to anything, but was the cause of major violations that the country was exposed to.
