New details regarding the three-year budget - the largest amount passed by Iraqi governmentsToday, Monday, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Youssef Al-Kalabi, revealed new details related to the financial budget law, while noting that the amount of the three-year budget is the most amount that Iraq has witnessed.

Al-Kalabi said in a press interview, “The Finance Committee is making a hard effort in order to complete the budget in the fullest way,” noting that “the committee meets from nine in the morning until late at night.”

The member of the House of Representatives added, “The articles of the budget law are many and complex, and work on them is serious,” stressing that “the amount of the three-year budget is one of the most sums witnessed by Iraq’s budgets.”

Al-Kalabi pointed out, “The House of Representatives seeks to make the budget conform to the government’s vision,” adding, “The budget law has not witnessed problems in its paragraphs.”

He pointed out that “the Finance Committee is proceeding according to accounting and detailed matters and transfers, and we will present a preliminary vision later regarding the date of approving the law.”

Earlier, today, Monday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee began to dismantle the budget items, while stressing the need to analyze the incoming items and paragraphs that determine the government’s expected spending and revenues.

And the media department of the House of Representatives stated, in a statement, that “the Finance Committee held a meeting chaired by Atwan Al-Atwani and in the presence of its members, regarding the completion of the federal general budget law for the fiscal years 2023-2024-2025, and presenting its proposals.”

He added, “The committee proceeded, at the beginning of the meeting, to read the items of the budget and the first article related to revenues, selling oil at a price of (70) dollars per barrel, and the second article related to operating and investment expenses, the deficit and project ratios.”

And he continued, “The committee held detailed discussions on the budget, and it was stressed the need to analyze the items and paragraphs contained that determine the expected expenditure and revenues for the government and speed up their completion within a specific period of time.”
