Representative Mudar Al-Karawi confirmed, on Thursday, that the deficit percentage in the 2023 budget will be determined within the next three days.
Al-Karawi said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “the financial deficit in the 2023 budget remains among the priorities of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, because the current one reaches more than 30%, meaning there is a value of 63 trillion dinars, which is the highest after 2003.”
He added, “Determining the percentage of the deficit in the 2023 budget will be determined during the next three days, after completing meetings and meetings with ministers and agencies, in order to reach a consensual map that contributes to the distribution of funds in a way that leads to reducing the deficit as much as possible.”
He pointed out that “the rates may reach 20% or slightly higher, but we support greater reduction options in order to enhance the government’s capabilities to face any crises, especially since oil prices are still volatile and the decline is very likely.”
The fiscal deficit in the 2023 budget is of concern, especially since it has reached a level of more than 30%.
