The Secretary-General of the Ahrar al-Furat Party in Anbar, Abdullah al-Jughifi, revealed today, Wednesday, a major “disaster” occurring in the province related to the Ain al-Assad base, while he asked the Anbar government and deputies a question.
Al-Jughaifi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “The American authorities in Iraq have purchased land from one of the clans of Anbar Province, which is like a desert,” noting that “Al-Qaeda today is expanding through the Americans.”
Al-Jughaifi asked a question, saying: “Where is the role of the Anbar deputies and government in the expansion of Ain al-Assad base by the US forces towards the west?”, stressing that “if these parties know, then this is a disaster, and if they do not know, then it is a greater disaster.”
Regarding the fate of managers accused of corruption cases and in prisons, the Secretary-General of the Ahrar al-Iraq Party explained that “there are many managers and political figures in Anbar province who are in prisons and are under investigation.”
Al-Jughaifi confirmed: “Until now, we have not heard of any judicial ruling being issued against one of the thieves, which raises doubts about the judicial decisions.”
Ain al-Assad base (formerly al-Qadisiyah base) is the second largest air base in Iraq after Balad Air Base, which is located in al-Baghdadi district in Anbar Governorate, which was occupied by the American forces in 2003 and used as an air base and a main center for transporting troops and supplies throughout the period of the American presence in Iraq.
