The economic expert, Diaa Al-Mohsen, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the authorities of northern Iraq were forced to come to Baghdad and sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the export of oil, while considering the decision of the international arbitration committee as “revealing” Kurdistan’s weakness in covering the expenses of the Kurdish people.
Al-Mohsen told Al-Maalouma agency, “The arbitration committee’s decision in Paris prevented the authorities in northern Iraq from exporting oil, which was considered a point of pressure on the Turkish side to abide by this decision,” noting that “the Kurds have become exposed from this side so that they cannot cover the financial expenses.” required Kurdish people.
He added, “The OPEC Plus decision to reduce oil production also has a role in this agreement, especially as it pushed the northern authorities to two options. Either adhere to all decisions or be subjected to pressure by the Kurdish people, given that the region’s exports belong to the government and the Kurds will not benefit from them.”
The economist explained, “The Kurds had to come to Baghdad and make an agreement with the federal government regarding the export of oil in northern Iraq through the national SOMO company.”
A member of the House of Representatives, Jassim al-Moussawi, confirmed today, Tuesday, that “many reasons prompted the Kurdistan region to sign an agreement with the federal government regarding the export of oil again to Turkey,” warning the Kurdistan authorities against violating the agreement.
Today, Tuesday, the capital, Baghdad, witnessed the signing of an official agreement between the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, in order to resolve the issue of exporting oil through the fields of the region through SOMO.
