The representative of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Karim Aliwi, today, Sunday, called on the judiciary to issue an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi on charges of corruption and embezzlement of funds, indicating that Al-Kazemi is considered the main suspect in corruption cases during the caretaker period.
Aliwi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma agency, “The Iraqi judiciary is required to issue arrest warrants against former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and his team on charges of corruption and embezzlement of funds during the caretaker period.”
He added, “Iraq witnessed, during Al-Kazemi’s tenure, theft and smuggling of money in various ways and methods that his team close to him worked on.”
Aliwi pointed out, “The Al-Kazemi government, throughout its tenure, was unpatriotic and unfair, as it was marred by many corruption operations.”
He added, “The action taken by the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, to cancel and invalidate the appointments that took place during the caretaker period, is correct and counts for him.”
And the Iraqi judiciary decided to seize the movable and immovable funds of the former Minister of Finance, Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, and the director of the office of the former Prime Minister, Raed Jouhi.
