Independent MP Basem Al-Gharabi revealed, on Monday, that he had collected the signatures of more than 80 deputies to host Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani in order to ask him about the high exchange rate of the dollar.
Al-Gharabi said, in a statement to Al-Maalouma, that “discussing the high exchange rate of the dollar away from the parliament hall is surprising,” noting that “we, as representatives of the Iraqi people, submitted more than 80 signatures attached to an official request to the presidency of the parliament to hold an emergency session to host the president.” The Council of Ministers to clarify the policy of the Council of Ministers and its steps to solve the dollar crisis.
Al-Gharabi added, “The parliament members’ demand is to see directly who is responsible and what are the next measures to develop solutions and alleviate the suffering of our Iraqi people.”
He explained that “the dollar file is considered one of the most important files that will be discussed inside the parliament dome, to seek clarification from the executive authorities about whether there are solutions to address the crisis and to identify the reasons behind the rise.”
The State of Law Coalition presented an important option to Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani to control the rise in dollar prices, while stressing that America is trying to dominate the economy after its failure in the soft war against Iraq.
