The political analyst, Sabah Al-Aqili, saw that the US administration used the dollar as a weapon it was waving against the government in order to ensure that it followed its course and within its policies.
Al-Aqili told Al-Maalouma, “The mechanism by which Iraqi oil is exported is based on the transfer of revenues from the sale of this product to the US Federal Bank, and therefore Iraq’s money is in the hands of America and its bank.”
He added, “The central bank’s need for dollars is compensated by the US Federal Bank, and the current period in which this bank has taken measures without returning to the Iraqi government, causing a difference in the supply and demand equation.”
And that “the failure to meet Iraq’s dollar requirements by America, it put the central bank in front of a difficult situation, and generated a large deficit in hard currency, which some banks exploited to raise the exchange rate.”
He pointed out that “the issue of the dollar is not devoid of an American plan aimed at pressuring the government led by Al-Sudani in order not to deviate from the path of American policy.”
