The leader of the State of Law coalition, Abbas Al-Maliki, confirmed today, Saturday, that the political data is moving towards holding a parliamentary session to choose the president of the republic after the parliament session that is being held today, while revealing the main reason behind the number of attendance at the session to choose the head of the Peace Palace.

Al-Maliki said in an interview with the information agency, “The session for selecting the president of the republic and the attendance of the number of deputies in it depends on the consensus between the political parties represented by the coordination framework, the Kurds and the Sunnis, and therefore if an agreement is reached between these forces before the session is held, it is hoped that it will witness a presence much greater than the number of who are in Parliament today.

He added, “The political data is moving towards holding a parliamentary session to choose the president after this session, given that there are great consensus under the table between the concerned political blocs to get out of the current crisis that the country is going through.”

The leader of al-Maliki’s coalition explained that “the political blocs, as is known by the Iraqi political custom, the agreements of the leaders of the blocs affect them greatly, and if it is agreed to pass the presidents of the republic and the ministers, the attendance will be large and effective.”

Today, Saturday, the House of Representatives will hold its third parliamentary session during the second legislative term to discuss six important files, most notably reading the Social Security Law.

It is noteworthy that the coordinating framework granted a period of 10 days to the two Kurdish parties (Party and Yekti) to resolve their position on agreeing on one candidate for the post of President of the Republic.
