Barham Salih - Iraq is at a crossroads and a government must be formed to approve the stalled budgetShafaq News/ The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, said on Friday that Iraq is experiencing a critical moment that puts it at a crossroads, stressing the need to expedite the formation of a government with full powers, to approve the stalled budget.

This came during his speech on the occasion of the central celebration of the Prophet’s birthday at the Grand Imam Abu Hanifa al-Nu’man Mosque in the city of Adhamiya in Baghdad, followed by Shafak News Agency.

Saleh explained, “Our country is experiencing a critical moment that puts it at a crossroads, either to go back to internal conflicts and line-ups, or to launch with a unified will that accommodates the grave challenges and meets the needs of citizens.”

He added, “It is no longer acceptable to continue the status quo, the formation of governments is taking longer, constitutional provisions are more disrupted, and living conditions and services are more bad, and it is not possible to bet on the patience of the Iraqis more.”

Saleh pointed out that “the absence of permanent stability exhausts our country and people, and opens the door open to external interventions that have made the country a field and fuel for the struggles of others on its land with the money and lives of the Iraqis.”

And the Iraqi president continued, “A whole year has passed since the elections were held without completing their constitutional entitlements, which is totally unacceptable,” adding, “I sincerely call on all political forces for a serious dialogue whose basis and goal is the interest of the country and the citizen, and to move towards forming a government with full powers, to approve the stalled budget.” Walking people’s affairs and managing the next stage.”
