A Deputy Reveals The Financial Cost Of The Early ElectionsInformation/Baghdad.
Member of Parliament Basem Khashan revealed, on Thursday, that the cost of holding early elections will reach a quarter of a billion dollars, indicating that there are more effective measures than calling for parliament to be dissolved.

Khashan said in an interview seen by “The Information”, that “there are more effective measures than calling for the dissolution of parliament to save the political process on the one hand, and carrying out the required reforms on the other hand.”

He added, “The early elections, demanded by the civilian demonstrators, will cost the Iraqi state about a quarter of a billion dollars, not to mention the need for about six months in order to hold them.”

Khashan pointed out that “the Iraqi constitution requires the dismissal of the current Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and assigning the President of the Republic to choose a new prime minister within a period not exceeding 15 days, and for Parliament to draw up the conditions for the new elections.” finished/25
