Transfer of files of nine senior officials to the judiciary - including ministers - deputy ministers and governorsThe Supreme Council for Combating Corruption announced on Friday the transfer of the files of nine senior officials to the judiciary, including ministers, deputy ministers and governors.

The Supreme Council for Combating Corruption said in a statement that it “referred a significant number of corruption cases to the judiciary, relating to nine senior officials,” noting that this came “based on the directive of the Prime Minister and in implementation of what was stated in his address to the Iraqi people on 9/10/2019″ .

He explained that the assignment was “after strengthening the evidence and the completion of the fundamentalist procedures and the formation of a team to follow up in the Council, and held coordination meetings with the judiciary in order to give priority and resolve them as soon as possible.”

“The cases referred relate to two former ministers and two undersecretaries in the ministries (industry, minerals, transportation, higher education, health) and a former minister-level employee and four former governors in the provinces of Babylon, Kirkuk, Nineveh and Salah al-Din,” it said.

He affirmed that “other files will be referred successively to the judiciary duly to acquit or convict the accused in accordance with the law.”
