BAGHDAD (AFP) – President of the Republic Barham Salih received at the Peace Palace in Baghdad Tuesday the commander of the US Central Command General Kenneth McKenzie and his accompanying delegation.
The president stressed the importance of strengthening security and military cooperation in combating extremism and terrorism, stressing the need to reduce tension in the region, which will consolidate joint action and strengthen regional and international security.
The president added that the next stage requires concerted efforts to rebuild and reconstruct the liberated areas.
For his part, General McKenzie stressed his country’s continued support for Iraqi forces and their support in eliminating terrorism.
The meeting reviewed the latest political and security developments on the Arab and international levels.
