Today, Saturday, the leader of the State of Law coalition, Haider al-Lami, warned of a dangerous precedent in the political process in the event that a prime minister from the Shiite component is not installed, while stressing that other components are trying to confiscate the position of prime minister and the right of the largest component.
Al-Lami said in an interview with the Information Agency, “In terms of the components in the political process, there are only two components, namely the Shiites and the Sunnis only, and the Shiites are the minority within the tripartite alliance. As for the Sunnis, many of them pledged allegiance to Massoud Barzani to be the leader of the Sunni component.”
And he added, “The other component wants to confiscate the position of the prime minister, who was unjust by Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s coming to him and striking this Shiite position.”
The leader of the State of Law explained that “this position belongs to the Shiite house, so it must be in agreement between the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement to enter the largest bloc that is appointed by the President of the Republic and undertakes to choose and elect the prime minister in a unified manner.”
Al-Lami added, “The election of a non-Shiite prime minister is a very dangerous precedent and will greatly affect the entire political process.”
The representative of the State of Law coalition, Aref Abdel Jalil, had confirmed, earlier, that the coordination framework demands the right of the Shiite component to participate in choosing the prime minister whom the other party is trying to exclude, indicating that the coordination will not give up the right of the largest component inside the parliament.
