Shafaq News/ The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq revealed today, Saturday, the reason for canceling the results of some polling stations for the parliamentary elections that took place on the tenth of last October.
Imad Jalil, a member of the media team of the Commission, told Shafak News Agency, “The cancellation of the results of some polling stations and centers was based on what the judiciary deems according to the law, and it did not cancel them because of fraud, because the process took place according to technical procedures, and whoever believes that canceling the results of stations came because of fraud is Wrong”.
He added that “the cancellation of the results of the early parliamentary elections for some polling stations approved by the judicial authorities came due to the repetition of the fingerprint or the failure of the devices, while the Commission’s action, if any defect occurred in the devices, is dealt with according to specific technical procedures, but what is issued by the judicial authority is binding on the application.”
The judiciary had announced the victory of eight candidates from the losing Shiite political forces in the elections, after it audited the results of the recent parliamentary elections.
Yesterday, Friday, the Coordinating Committee for Demonstrations and Sit-ins Rejecting the Election Results praised the Iraqi judiciary’s decision after its ruling that eight candidates from the losing Shiite political forces won the elections.
The committee said in a statement, “What the Judicial Committee has proven about the inefficiency of the results-acceleration devices in a lawsuit for one of your candidates is one of the deprived of their rights. The position of the Iraqi judiciary was honorable and courageous in restoring the right and restoring things to their rightful place, as was the case for seven other candidates in the country’s various departments of the governorates.” The same thing happened to them.”
