8-9-2014 Intel Guru TD I just received this update from my Kurdish friend who indicates that thanks to US air strikes and the fierce fighting capability of the Kurdish forces that ISIS is NOT making any progress against their region. Most telling is the ENORMOUS pressure the Obama administration is making against M [Maliki] and other main political leaders in the country to “Move ahead swiftly with government formation and the placement of an inclusive PM “. Obama has laid it out very clearly to everyone that their only viable solution here is political and that the US military involvement is coupled with REAL AND IMMEDIATE Political solutions.

8-9-2014 Intel Guru TD All this translates to is that M is history and a new PM will be named as early as Sunday. Acceleration and formation of the government is imminent now. While humanitarian suffering is enormous this development is a blessing in disguise for all of the Iraqi people as their leaders MUST now act. 8-8-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar “The President of the House of Representatives Saleem al-Jubouri, on Thursday, lifting the parliamentary session of the fifth legislative term of the first parliamentary session of the third day to the next Sunday…” The coalition needs to get this issue of the biggest block resolved. The more this drags on the more dangerous Maliki will get. …IMO it had better not drag on past Sunday as far as what or who is the largest block. It doesn’t bode well for our side if it goes into next week unresolved. The coalition seems to have hit a brick wall. The coalition needs to quit trying to involve the SOL and just cut them off at the knees and have the INA declared the largest block. Delaying it only makes it worse and risks success. Read more…

8-6-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru BGG They are fairly close to naming a PM in Iraq. Sometime in the next couple of days we will see that. Maliki in as the PM for a 3rd term is a rumor and far from true for many reasons, one is it is not constitutional. Another rumor is that Jaafari is nominated as the NA candidate for PM…that one may be true. The 8th is Friday & if they are going to stick to any kind of constitutional framework on their deadline they have to have their PM named this week & I think they will probably get it done. They are on the doorstep of having a new PM and they should have a vote before Sunday. Read more…

7-30-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar Ramadan is almost over and we are in a holding pattern until Thursday as the Iraqi’s celebrate the great feast, Eid al Fitr. The NA has been determined to be the biggest block and that argument is over. The coalition has announced they will pick their nominee right after Eid al Fitr…this should come down to Mahdi or Chalabi… Once the NA determines who will be the nominee, al Jubouri (POP) will then reconvene parliament and Masum (POR) will then ask the NA to announce their nominee. At that point we have a government. By constitutional law the new PM will be given 30 days to construct a government which means assign Ministers and choose a Council Of Ministers (COM). I believe mostly because of the severity of the problems facing Iraq and the speed of which this process has been moving, he will fast tract that into a couple of days. Read more…

7-28-2014 Newshound Guru Kaperoni currencies don’t revalue when they change Exchange Regimes, they simply move from one to another. So the current rate is 1166 which means when they enter Article VIII and a new regime it will be at 1166. That being said, it won’t stay there long. Every expert that I have ever seen has stated it is under valued which means that it will rise. And if Iraq lines up the economic activities as we stated, it should be like turning on a kitchen facet because once the CBI opens the Capital Account, investment will flow into Iraq and put people to work, new constructions, businesses, etc. Which will cause inflations with a fixed currency…so the dinar must rise as a result of transition to a market economy. 7-27-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar …the definition of what constitutes the largest block was at issue. It was important to make sure to the coalition that they define that as something other than the SOL. Jubouri yesterday defined the largest block as the National Alliance effectively removing the power the SOL was trying to obtain through the courts by having them rule the SOL was the biggest block. The National Alliance (Shia Party) consists primarily of two opposing groups, the coalition 83 MP’S and the SOL 95 MP’S. (State of Law). The coalition wants Chalabi or Mahdi which are both acceptable to all Iraqi’s and are non sectarian. The SOL leadership wants Maliki and has shown no interest in negotiating. Things are moving very fast and things are not going Maliki’s way. He is still fighting but becoming more irrelevant every day. Side prediction – Maliki and the leadership of the SOL will be on an airplane heading to parts unknown within an hour of the announcement from the NA of their new nominee. Read more…
