Erbil: Where News} The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region announced, on Monday, the results of an expanded meeting held in the presence of the presidencies of the region with the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, in Erbil.
A statement by the region’s presidency stated that the meeting expressed its support for the government’s steps and federal constitutional institutions to protect the security and stability of the country and create stable conditions to protect the work and duties of foreign representations.
The meeting also expressed support for the holding of early elections in the country, and discussed the conditions of the constitutional Article 140 areas – the disputed areas –
and the statement stated that the meeting expressed its support for the recent steps of the Iraqi government to normalize the situation in Sinjar, the return of the displaced, as well as all attempts at demographic change. In conflict areas, and demanded the federal government to ensure a mechanism for security and stability in those areas.
In another axis, the meeting discussed the steps of dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil, and expressed its support for the two parties’ attempts to deal with the problems once and for all, and to be in a way that guarantees the constitutional rights of citizens in the Kurdistan region and Iraq in general.
The meeting also discussed the internal conditions of the region, the global challenges due to the outbreak of the Corona virus and its consequences, and the meeting also discussed the financial crisis and the meeting stressed the need to skip this stage and protect the interests of citizens in Kurdistan, and it is necessary for all Kurdish parties to harness their capabilities and unify their positions to face this sensitive situation and its future repercussions.
The meeting also condemned the killing of Asayish officer Ghazi Saleh Al-Alykhan in the borders of Dohuk Governorate.
