Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair confirmed on Saturday that Iraq produces more than 5 million barrels per day, while noting that the Ministry of Oil is committed to the daily export ceiling imposed by OPEC, which is 4 million and 330 thousand barrels. The Oil Minister told the official agency that “Iraq produces more than five million barrels of oil per day,” pointing out that “there is a difference between production capacity and its export capacity for Iraq.”
He added that “OPEC imposes on Iraq a production capacity of around 4 million and 330 thousand barrels per day, while production exceeds the ceiling of five million barrels, and the Ministry of Oil is committed to the export ceiling set by OPEC.”
He also pointed out that “there is a dialogue with OPEC to raise the export ceiling due to the special circumstances that Iraq enjoys and the nature of the conditions it has gone through over the past five decades,” indicating that “Iraq deserves to raise production rates in order to provide the necessary financial revenues to develop the infrastructure and implement government plans.”
