The political blocs agreed to schedule the Law of the House of Representatives elections, to specify the description of multiple constituencies in all governorates and regions, while temporarily maintaining the current number of members of Parliament 329 deputies, until a new population census and the statistics of the Ministry of Planning are checked.
“The committee has completed discussion and formulation of all the proposals, and the law is ready to present it to the final vote in front of the parliament,” deputy head of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Mohamed Al-Ghazi, said in a press statement.
He added that “the committee drafted several proposals for the multiple constituencies and the individual election mechanism in the new election law,” noting that “the main proposal within the law is the adoption of multiple electoral constituencies and that the province be divided into several constituencies, including Baghdad will be 10 constituencies, with the nomination of the highest winner Votes by 100%. ”
He explained that “the seats in the new parliament will remain temporary at the same number as the current 329 seats, pending the conduct of the census and checking data and statistics of the ministries of planning and trade,” noting that the distribution of quota seats will be resolved without prejudice to the quota of women.
