The head of the Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee, Walid Sahlani, called on Friday to form a higher investigation committee to uncover the circumstances of the suicide of the Korean company’s director in Al-Faw port, while describing the incident as a dangerous precedent.
Sahlani said, in a statement. “We demand the formation of a supreme investigation committee to uncover the circumstances of the suicide accident of the director of the Korean company in the large port of Faw, especially since the accident came a few days before the signing of the contract for the first phase of the port of Faw with the Korean company Daewoo.”
He stressed, “the importance of having a special force to protect foreign companies overseeing important strategic projects in Iraq,” and what happened today usually “a dangerous precedent that must not go unnoticed.”
He continued: “Especially because the port is of great importance to the economy of Iraq, because it connects the East to Europe through Turkey, which will change the global maritime transport map in the future.”
