Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revealed, on Monday, that Iraq planned to pay its debts to his country’s companies in dinars instead of dollars, accusing America of playing on fire with the residents of the Kurdish-populated areas between Syria and Iraq.
Lavrov said in a joint conference with his Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Hussein, followed by Al-Maalouma, that “it is necessary to exempt bilateral relations from the sanctions imposed by the West, and that Baghdad is studying opportunities to pay its debts to oil and gas companies operating in Iraq.”
He added, “We discussed with the Iraqi side the situation in Ukraine, and we gave many examples that confirm the West’s goal of undermining the Minsk agreements, and we provided irrefutable evidence of the West’s plan to destroy all the rights of Russian speakers in Ukraine.”
Lavrov pointed out that “we remember very well how to level Mosul, Raqqa and other cities to the ground, and other war crimes that did not concern the international community or the concern of the international community to hold those responsible for this Sunday accountable,” accusing “the United States of America playing with fire with the residents of the areas inhabited by the Kurds.”
