Iraq prepares plan to build 30 dams to harvest water

The Ministry of Water Resources revealed a future plan for sustainable management of groundwater, which includes the construction of (30) dams to harvest water.
The Director General of the General Authority for Groundwater at the Ministry, Maitham Ali Khadir, told the official newspaper that “his department has prepared a future plan concerned with the sustainable management of groundwater, especially in desert areas that are difficult to compensate for except through rain.”
He explained that “the plan includes the construction of a number of water harvesting dams during the coming year after completing their studies and designs,” noting that “suitable locations have been chosen for them.”
