(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Ministry of Transport collects, daily, 117 thousand dollars from the passage of passenger aircraft through Iraqi airspace.
Transport Minister Nasser Al-Shibli said, “260 planes pass through our airspace daily,” noting that “450 dollars per plane passes through our airspace.”
According to a calculation, the cost of these aircraft across the airspace of Iraq generates 117 thousand dollars a day.
On the third of this month, Al-Shibli announced the activation of land and air transit operations in Iraq.
The Minister of Transport said, “In line with the government’s drive to maximize the state’s resources, and in our keenness to invest the important geographical location of Iraq, which is an important link for many countries, we are determined to activate the transit transport operations that passes through Iraqi airspace as well as the Iraqi mainland, which is open to many. From countries, because these operations represent an important source to provide money and increase revenues in a way that serves the interest of the Iraqi citizen.
