{Baghdad: Al Furat News} Minister of Communications Arkan Shihab Ahmed revealed, on Sunday, serious efforts being made by the ministry to build a digital economy, while stressing that Iraq is heading towards a switch to the 4G and 5G system.
The Minister said in a press statement, “The Ministry is on the verge of implementing a strategic plan represented in the governance and automation of government work by building a digital economy befitting the reputation of Iraq,” noting that “there is cooperation and unification of visions with the Media and Communications Authority, as this cooperation will reflect positively on services Communication and technology provided to the citizen through coordination at a high level to work together. ”
He explained that “the next stage will witness the transition from WIFI services to FTTH and from 3G to 4G and 5G in the future, which are projects that will have a clear impact on bringing about a significant improvement in communication services within the country.”
He pointed out that “work is underway to implement the project of international access gates, which will preserve the social and security fabric of the country, as well as curb the smuggling of Internet capacities that cause the country to lose huge sums.”
