Linked to factions... Shafaq News publishes copies of canceled contracts at Mosul AirportShafaq News – Baghdad
An informed source reported on Saturday that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi had cancelled contracts at Mosul airport linked to armed factions.

The source told Shafaq News Agency that “Al-Zaydi directed the cancellation of the contract of the (Sky Plus) company to rent the counters of Mosul Airport due to its connection with armed groups and referred it to international companies.”

He added that the directive also included canceling the lease of the unroofed indoor garage at Mosul International Airport with the “Sama Airport” company due to its connection with armed groups and referring it to international companies, and canceling the lease of the taxi office at Mosul International Airport with the “Al-Faisal Al-Shamikh” company due to its connection with armed groups and referring it to international companies.

It is noted that Al-Zaydi issued directives this afternoon during his meeting with Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil, which include expediting the operation of Mosul International Airport, through contracting with reputable and specialized international companies, to undertake the joint operation and management of the airport, in order to ensure the development of its performance, and enhance its role in transportation and the economy, according to an official statement.

It is worth noting that a government source reported a few days ago that negotiations regarding the dismantling of the armed factions’ weapons had reached a near-dead end, warning of the possibility of the media escalation spilling onto the streets and its impact on the security situation .

The source told Shafaq News Agency that “the dialogue regarding the disarmament of the factions has reached a near-closed road, in light of the factions’ continued refusal to hand over their weapons,” noting that this prompted them to resume media escalation against Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi and his government, as well as against the coordinating framework that is negotiating with them through a specialized committee .
