Iraq opens rice exports to foreign markets

The Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture announced on Saturday the opening of export operations for paddy rice (Iraqi rice) to foreign markets, after achieving production levels that “meet the requirements of local consumption and provide quantities for foreign marketing.”
The ministry stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that the decision comes within the framework of supporting the national product and enhancing the export capabilities of the agricultural sector, according to a new strategic vision.
She added that she will coordinate with the relevant authorities to facilitate administrative and logistical procedures for exporters and farmers, in order to ensure the smooth flow of exports, support the national economy and diversify sources of income.
The ministry indicated that this step reflects the government’s interest in supporting the agricultural sector in both its plant and animal aspects.
